I enjoy living among the large old trees and considering the range of changes they have witnessed in their long lifetimes. The maples seem to record their every thought in their bark, their rings, their branches. I have had five miscarriages over the past 12 years and realize that, like births, they are all different, effect me deeply and are never forgotten. I recall my first as clearly as the most recent. This piece is fully functional and the "tree’s" losses are incorporated into the tree as a part of its whole."
